![]() You'll be going through multiple waved of enemies in a battle. Once all the foes are knocked out, the battle ends in a victory. Sometimes, you'll need to press A correctly whenever one of your minions pull off a special move. In 8 vs 8 battles, being the Bowser's minions vs enemies, everyone starts attacking immediately. It requires way more strategy, and a similar amount of action commands. Minion Quest plays very differently from normal Mario & Luigi. Captain Goomba's journey takes him all over the land of Beanbean to recruit every minion they can find, and save Bowser from the clutches of Fawful. As such, they declare him the captain, and give a flag for him to wear. The three Goombas are astounded by the first Goomba's spirit. After an encounter with a Beanie, he finds three more Goombas, and they all agree to search for Bowser. A Goomba at Hoohoo Mountain wakes up, and is determined to find Bowser. Minion Quest acts as a side story to Superstar Saga, taking place at the same time.Īfter Fawful attacks the Koopa Cruiser, all of Bowser's crew, along with the Koopalings, are blasted out, and are scattered throughout the Beanbean Kingdom. The new mode of the remake stars the fierce minions of the Koopa Clan. Both of these and more were changed in the remake to look more like regular, modern Mario. The Toads in Littlefungi Town were crazy weird looking and had silly faces, and the Koopa Troopas even wore pilot outfits in the original. However, I feel some redesigned enemies and characters look less funky than they did in the original. The sprites are also just as expressive as they were in the original. The lighting here is probably the best we've ever seen in any Mario & Luigi game to date. The visuals have majorly improved from the original. This is really nice since it makes the game fun for everybody, whether you struggle to play for your first time, or want to breeze through the game again and again. It doesn't hold onto your hand like Dream Team, but stills makes the game accessible for young players, while old pros can still ignore this totally and move on swiftly. ![]() Like Paper Jam, you're also offered a guide at all times to learn game mechanics and practice actions and attacks. However, I never really used this since I always had the commands ready on the bottom screen. The bottom screen also features a map similarly to the recent games. ![]() You can still press L and R to switch commands, but I don't recommend unless you use High Jump. The concept for this idea of the original was great, but this makes it much easier and faster. It got complex at times, which could be a little annoying at times. In the original game, you had to constantly change your commands by pressing L and R lots of times and switching the bros back and forth to use the command you wanted. On the bottom screen is the new layout that lets you select bros. What really separates this version from the original is the additional features added. There are small changes from the original, but I won't go over all of them. attack timings have changed and basic attacks function more similarly to the latest games, but that's really about it for real changes from the original. This version features two modes, Superstar Saga and Minion Quest: The Search for Bowser.Īll the plot, characters, locations, dialogue, and gameplay mechanics retain from the GBA version.Īs far as gameplay goes, the remake still holds up to the original to be crazy fun and not a whole lot changes. Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions is a remake of Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga.
